How Our Unique Fibrex® Material Is Manufactured

At Renewal by Andersen®, the frames of our windows are made of our unique Fibrex® material. This composite frame has the strength of natural wood but with the low-maintenance benefits of vinyl. It’s also twice as strong as the latter material.

Your local window replacement service provider shares more about the manufacturing process of Fibrex material. How Our Unique Fibrex® Material Is Manufactured

What is Fibrex Material Composed Of?

Andersen manufactures millions of windows each year. Miling intricate profiles in the windows produce wood pieces that are not big enough to be used in other window components. The unused wood is reclaimed and repurposed to create Fibrex material, which is made up of 40 percent wood fiber by weight and 60 percent propriety polymer.

The wood fiber is heated to make sure it’s free from moisture. After it has been dried, the polymer is heated to a certain temperature and then combined with the wood fiber. When the right amount of pressure is applied to the liquid polymer, it encases and fills every cell of the fiber. The wood fibers then align and bend together, which allows Fibrex to resist moisture and have superior durability. After this, the compound goes through an extruder so it can be made into any shape and applied with virtually any color.

What Are the Benefits of Fibrex?

Renewal by Andersen is a window company known for its superior products and excellent workmanship. We test each window frame and make sure they are in perfect condition before it’s brought to your home.

Fibrex can withstand extreme weather conditions and weather changes. The wood fiber help in insulating the material to minimize heat loss in winter and heat gain in summer. Together with our special glass packages, you’ll have windows that can help make your home comfortable and save up to 25 percent on your energy costs.

"Our windows were the original ones that were installed when they built the house in 1972. They wouldn't open, they had been painted shut. They were single pane and the glaze was cracked everywhere. I had to put plastic up every year to help keep the house warm at least a little bit. My MIL was surprised that there weren't any panes in the windows. Now she loves it. We have put a film on the windows so we can see out but no one can see in. We are loving it!"
