3 Window Features That Are Ideal for Aging in Place

Your needs as a homeowner change as time goes by. You may eventually find that your current home no longer suits your activities, and this is especially normal for people aging in place. That said, it’s very important to remodel your home and come up with a design that better fits your needs as you get older.

3 Window Features That Are Ideal for Aging in Place

Finding windows that are ideal for homeowners aging in place is pretty easy nowadays. In this post, Renewal by Andersen® of Memphis, a window and door replacement specialist, lists three window features that are essential to homeowners aging in place. If you’re switching to new windows, you should definitely consider these window options.

Easy to Operate

Opening and closing your window shouldn’t require so much effort from you. That’s why sliding windows are often perfect for those aging in place. Another great option are windows with simple, smooth cranks.

Offers Privacy

Fortunately, there are several options on how you can add privacy to your windows. These include patterned acrylic blocks, decorative windows or clings or film that create a frosted or patterned look on window glass. You can also opt for smart glass technology, which allows you to lighten or darken the tint of your replacement windows using a remote or smartphone app.

Minimal Upkeep

Window frames made of wood usually require sanding and repainting, and they’re susceptible to rot. Renewal by Andersen windows, however, are made from Fibrex® composite material that’s known for being low-maintenance. They’re very easy to clean, and they come with zero to little hassle.

Renewal by Andersen of Memphis is a leading name in the window industry. Apart from excellent services, we also provide window products that are even better than your regular vinyl replacement windows. "Our windows were the original ones that were installed when they built the house in 1972. They wouldn't open, they had been painted shut. They were single pane and the glaze was cracked everywhere. I had to put plastic up every year to help keep the house warm at least a little bit. My MIL was surprised that there weren't any panes in the windows. Now she loves it. We have put a film on the windows so we can see out but no one can see in. We are loving it!"
